Derek Germuska graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut May 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. Attended and graduated from the Maritime Law Enforcement Academy: Basic Boarding Officer Course at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Charleston, SC May 2008. Completed and passed his Fundamentals of Engineering in Virginia 2010. By education, experience, and testing was licensed as a professional engineer in California 2012 License E 20111. He left the Coast Guard in 2012 and went to work for Germuska Forensic Engineering, Inc. Derek was licensed by comity as a professional engineer in Florida May 2014 License 77461, has a Masters of Business Administration from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg and by education and testing is an American Boat and Yachting Council Master Marine Technician. Most recently, in 2018 Derek was licensed to practice professional engineering in Texas, License 129951 and has provided deposition testimony is federal court.
